Cost Adjustments

We have Vantage 8.03.409C. What you can do is uncheck the the use inventory reason codes in the company setup. Upload the cost for your parts and then when finish, check the use inventory reason codes in company setup under inventory module.

When are the Average/Lot and Last fields updated in the Cost
Adjustment screen for Manufactured Parts.

Is there a program thats needs to be run or does it happen when the
job is marked complete or closed out by accounting or ??????

I would think Last would be what it cost you the last time you made

Reason I am asking is because I found a part that we have made but
nothing shows up in the last or average fields. While other parts we
make there is information in those 2 fields.

Just trying to get an idea of how it works

Did the part every go into inventory? If it's made on a subassembly or
shipped from the job, Vantage won't update the costs. The same is true
if a part is bought directly to a job.

This is a topic that I'm very interested in at the moment as I'm
having to work out all sorts of costs.

A manufactured part will not update its avg/last costs, unless (I
think) it goes into inventory, shipping the final manufactured part
out to a customer does not update the avg/last cost.

The avg/last costs are only updated when a part has been received, so
that's something you bought via a purchase order and then received to
stock/your warehouse.

Personaly I don't like the avg cost, with the costs of materials such
as steel increasing al the time I prefere the last cost which is from
when the material was last purchased (when something doubles in price
in a year I think the avg costs is just bs).

I'l looking forward to Epicor 9 as it is supposed to have fifo :)

Don't get too excited about fifo from Epicor. My wife works with a company that uses another Epicor product, iScala. They use fifo and it either does not work, or they had to do a lot of workarounds to make it work. My understanding is that Epicor is trying to unify all their product lines. To the extent they are integrating the fifo part of iScala into Vantage/Vista, it may have problems.

Not good news :(

Not to worry though as I'm going nowhere near 'Epicor 9' until it's
been out for a good year or so, they may have sorted out fifo by
then ;)

Hi,
Â
We are running 9.05.700B and I'm trying to mass update the cost of parts.  Does anyone know of a way to do this other than doing them individually?  I have tried DMT (no updates only new allowed), Paste Update from List View (getting invalid Reason Code) and an Updateable BAQ.   All which have failed.
Â
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Â
Thanks,

All Cost adjustments are new records, that is why DMT only shows it. We do them thru DMT. If the part is lot tracked, you will need the lot info in the dmt.

Good Day Ken:

Paste update would work if you add a reason. If the
column is not there, you might be able to add it with customization or
maybe just personalization. Do not do all at once or it will be very
slow. Start with maybe 100 lines then increase until it slows too much.

If you have an Excel sheet, you could have Epi-Center,
or another consultant, do a quick program for you. Test for speed on
Test account first.

Or, call helpline, the DMT should work. I think. Do you
own the full DMT program?

Remember to update all non-zero cost buckets: burden,
labor, matl, etc.

Make sure you get right set: Averge vs. Standard, vs.
Last

While all cost Adjustment records may be new since they
are PartTrans records, I think changing PartCost records would be a
change.

Unless you are pasting into QtyAdjust program and not
directly into the records.

The company I work for is on 700C. I used the DMT to load my costs. If the part cost remains the same as before, it will give an error saying there is no part cost update. If the part cost is changing, it will update the part cost. I updated 4,000+ purchased part costs using the DMT and then used the cost workbench to create the new standard cost for the manufactured parts. You do need a reason code for the cost adjustment. Our parts are lot tracked, but I didn't have to do anything for that.

Good Day Greg:

While all cost Adjustment records may be new since they
are PartTrans records, I think changing PartCost records would be a
change.

Unless you are pasting into QtyAdjust program and not
directly into the records.

All Cost adjustments are new records, that is why DMT only shows it. We
do them thru DMT. If the part is lot tracked, you will need the lot info
in the dmt.

We use Service Connect for our updates. Use an Excel sheet with just 4
columns for input:

PartNum UnitMatCost UnitBurden Reason
PART1 1.23 1.23 StdC
PART2 1.23 1.23 StdC

The company I work for is on 700C. I used the DMT to load my costs. If the part cost remains the same as before, it will give an error saying there is no part cost update. If the part cost is changing, it will update the part cost. I updated 4,000+ purchased part costs using the DMT and then used the cost workbench to create the new standard cost for the manufactured parts. You do need a reason code for the cost adjustment. Our parts are lot tracked, but I didn't have to do anything for that.

Last
