Credit Card Billing and payments Ver 5.10

Joanne,

I don't know much about setting up in Version5.10 as I am only on 4.00.
But I have recently researched accepting credit cards. The best offer
has been through our bank.

We looked at using a their service online. They use Lynk Systems.
When the customer gives us the credit card info - we can enter in the
computer system - at that time they will check if credit is available.
You are able to check a toggle box to bill later - if you are not
shipping the same day.

Also, when you are looking into credit cards - here are a few questions
I asked.

Do they charge a different rate for international cards vs domestic.
Do they charge a different rate for corporate cards.
Cost Equipment? (if you do not use Virtual Terminal)
Cost of Setup?
A nnual Fee?
Programming fee?
Do they charge a "Charge Back Fee" (if customer disputes charges)
Do they require a reserve account (normaly for chargebacks) Also - found
out for high volume customers.
Termination / Cancellatin Fees?
How long is your contract?
Is Amex Card a Different Rate.
Minimum Charge?
Monthly Charge?
Statement Fee?
If you go Virtual Terminal is there an access fee? - is this the monthly
fee or an additional.
Rates? Is it a percentage + a specific amount per transaction (2% +10
cents per transaction)

Also How long do they Guarantee not to raise their rates.

I think that might cover it. I hope this is what you were looking for.

Best Regards,

We are being asked by a customer to accept credit card payment. I
found where to setup the credit card but the question is what are the
necessary steps in getting paid by the credit card company? Is a copy
of the invoice sent, do you call each credit card company for
authorization? Any suggestions would be helpful. TIA.

We purchased (lease) a credit card machine from our bank and we run the CC here the day after the shipment has been made.

We had a similar request and set up a PayPal account. It has worked OK and
was a lot less complicated than using our bank. I am experimenting a little
with using it to pay vendors also. I have it set up so any payments
received are deposited directly to our bank account.

We have a credit card arrangement with or bank. They brought
software, "Personal Ticket Capture". With this software we send the
charges we get to the bank and they interface with the credit card
company. Of course they keep a piece. I think 3%.
I'm the IT side of Accounting. If you need more info I can have some

I will be the first to admit I don't know a great deal about PayPal. But
there are several horror stories about PayPal and internet transactions.
Mostly dealing with E-bay. You do give up some of the protections you take
for granted with a credit card transaction when you use PayPal. My
understanding is that you are authorizing PayPal to move funds to/from the
bank account you use to back the PayPal account. In the case of a
fraudulent transaction you have already pre-approved PayPal to move the
money. Your bank can't/won't go to bat for you in this case. You have to
duke it out with PayPal, on their terms as specified in your agreement with
them. This can take some time and they hold all of the cards.

I have no first hand experience with this, just passing on what I have read.

When a request for payment arrives on a PayPal account you must explicitly
request that the funds be moved from your associated bank account to remit
the PayPal payment. There is no automatic or pre-approved authorization.
If a fraudulent request is made of your PayPal account, all you have to do
is deny it.

Joanne,

First of all you will need to obtain a merchant account from a processing
authority. This is essentially an intermediary banking agent that will
allow you to authorize purchases and transfer the funds to your bank
account. You can then authorize a purchase either through a terminal
interface (those dial up boxes in most stores) or online through your
processors web site. When you authorize the charge, a receipt is generated
and, depending on the card, a few days later the funds are transferred to
your bank. The processing authority will have a monthly minimum required
transaction total insuring that you will have to incur at least their
minimum fee and/or take a percentage of each transaction.

Hope this helps,

Michael
