Credit memo and quantity not return

Hello,
I have a question. our finance issued a credit memo for a SO.
in the detail, we have only one line with quantity 10. after posted, Finance said they did not see the quantity return to our inventory.
Just want to make sure if we need adjust the quantity, we need do the either RMA or quantity adjust. there is nothing related to issue a credit memo. credit memo is only for amount not for quantity. is it correct?

thanks,

Eddy

Credit memo does not adjust inventory. If it is related to a customer return, you have to do RMA. And RMA receipt will adjust the inventory. The RMA receipt should then be converted into a credit note.

I’d usually raise the RMA to print a return form, and then raise the credit from within the RMA itself so finance can then pull it through to an invoicing batch. Then once goods are received against the RMA they can be receipted/inspected back into inventory against the RMA number.
