Several people on this list have approached Epicor about this gap. If a user
is setup as a Web User then they can right mouse click any email address and
get a little email client that will send a message and it will record that
message in the call log. However, the email client does not have the
capability to attach files to that message. Furthermore, there is no way to
link incoming mail to the Vantage CRM.

I can understand why Epicor doesn't want to tie itself to Outlook because not
everyone will run the client on Windows and not everyone uses Outlook. There
are commercial .Net POP3/IMAP/SMTP(/EXCHANGE) email components available but
it would take some work to integrate one of them into Vantage.

Epicor suggested ServiceConnect as a possibility but there may be a way of
using VBA and WebServices to have the two interact. If others are interested,
I think we should gather together a description of how such a link
could/should work. We could present that document to Epicor and/or try to
develop it ourselves to share among the group.

But first, did anyone hear of any capabilities in 803 that addresses this
basic CRM requirement?

Has anyone attempted to somehow link the CRM Customer/Contact e-mail
address field to Outlook so that clicking on the address will bring
you directly to a new mail message screen? This seems like standard
stuff for any CRM Contact system, but don't see an obvious solution.
