Babette,

The error detected by database dll message
is the same as ** declare 247 or something
like his when not compiling the report, you need to
add a key in the registry, if you like I can sent it to you.

Are you running the report directly to a printer, or doing the preview first?

Which version of Vantage & Crystal are you running? If Vantage 3 & CRW 7, you have to change some dll's on the server.

Ah! I think this might have the same problem with dll files as Vantage 3 & CRW 7. Vantage 4 does not support CRW 8, it was designed around CRW7. I think you will have to replace the crystal dll's on the server in the Vantage\dll directory.the files I had to change when we were on Vantage 3 using CRW 7 were:
crpaig32.dll
crpe32.dll
p2bxbse.dll
u252000.dll
u25dts.dll
u212000.dll
u2lbar.dll
u2lcom.dll
u2ldts.dll
u2lexch.dll
u2lfinra.dll
u2lsamp1.dll

I don't know if these are the files needed to update to CRW 8, check out the ERAnet or the emanufacturing web site, or the Seagate Software site.
