Crystal Reports Filter

I would venture to say that it's the ODBC driver that is the culprit. The Merant drivers seem more robust for joins, etc.

Troy,

We're using Vantage 5.1, Crystal 8.5, & ODBC for Progress 9.1C (v3.60). I heard rumors that Crystal 8 is more stable than 8.5. Is that true?

I think I will attempt to recreate the report. Yeah, I agree it is a pain, but if it helps the problem....

Thanks!

Wendy,
Sometimes restarting the report from scratch will help solve 'mystery lockups'. It's a pain, but it often-times has worked for me.

Once again, what version of Vantage, Crystal, and ODBC are you using?

Troy,

That is a good solution. But, for some reason everytime I use a dual filter for the Employee ID and/or EmployeeBasic.firstname the report locks up. I'm clueless as to why this is happening.

Any ideas?

Wendy,
If your EmplID's all BEGIN with an Alpha character, you could do something like this in your select statement:

(EmplID = "53" or EmplID >= 'a')

This could work since alpha characters get sorted after numbers, but only if the first character is an alpha character.

Hey everyone!
How do I create a filter in Crystal that will include only employee # 52 and any employee with an alpha numeric character? We use to set all of our unattended time under employee #52 but now we're tracking all unattended time by the machine name. So, I need both filtering options to work for current jobs and old jobs.

Anyone?

What I do for unattended is set the 'last name' field to 'unattended' for
every entry, and the first name to the machine. So, when I need to filter
on the unattended equipment, I just filter on last name = 'unattended'
regardless of the id# used.

Actually that is a good idea! But, when I go to filter on Empbasic.Firstname the report locks up. I don't know why. So it seems as if I need to figure out how to filter it with the Labordtl.empid.
