Erik,
I use Crystal 8.0 on my development machine (Win98). On the WCS machine I use NT 4.0 SP6a for the Operating System, Crystal Enterprise (version?? -- its the one that comes with Crystal 8.5) for the Web Component Server, along with IIS and Crystal 8.5 Professional. I applied the outjoin.reg fix on that machine, as well as my Crystal 8.0 workstation (Win98). Any report I design in 8.0 is instantly runable on the NT workstation just by copying the file to the appropriate directory. I've never had a file not run correctly with ODBC. For both of the above machines I am using the Merant 3.5 drivers from Datadirect. We utilize Procontrol to start the oibrkr32.exe program for the ODBC broker. We're on Vantage 5.1, Progress 9.1C.

Troy,
What version of Crystal Reports, Crystal Enterprise and ODBC drivers are you
using on your WCS? And is the IIS running locally or also on the Vantage
server?

Erik,
I have reports with over 10 tables in them -- with the links happening
at various places in various tables.
Have you applied the outjoin.reg fix to the WCS machine? It has to be
applied on the machine running the report.

Troy,
I'm already using the Crystal outjoin.reg fix.
The problem is that in Crystal I can link as much tables I want without
any
problems but starting the same report through the WCS will generate those
errors.
Are you or somebody else able to preview reports, based on 3 ODBC linked
tables?

Erik,
You probably need to apply the outjoin.reg fix, which adds the correct
procedure for outerjoins in the registry. There used to be both versions
(14 and 15) depending on the .dll files you have. I have another version
for Merant 3.5 that I use. Check here
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/files/Vantage%20Admin/Crystal.reg to
see if these work from Ted Kitch. (Merant v3.6 Registry Fix for Crystal
Reports ).

Thank's Adam and Troy for the good advice!!! now it works fine till a
certain point and that is;
1) With the merant 3.6 odbc driver
If a report uses 3 linked tables I receive the message "Error detected
by
database DLL. [On Page Server: SERVERNAME.pageserver]"
Note: 2 tables is no problem.
2) Using the Merant Progress SQL92 v9.1D drivers it's the same problem,
the
only difference is that this happens with a 2 linked table report.
Searching in the knowledge base of crystal I could find this article,
but
does not solve my problem.

Hope you can help me again with this one.

Erik,
You need to run all of the Crystal Enterprise services as
Administrator...not Local System account. I believe that is what fixed
it for me.
