Crystal reports & Multiple Data sources

Dan, (reference Call#: 748545MPS RE: ODBC and Crystal Reports error 599 )

There are a couple of workarounds. We use an ODBC subreport with our
POForm.rpt. just fine using the Merant ODBC driver version 3.5. If you are
using SQL-92 drivers from Progress you will get an Error 599 when you try to
view the report in Vantage even though the report previews fine in Crystal
Designer.

Here are the options that I am aware of:
1. If you want to run the report from within Vantage then,
A. Use the Merant ODBC driver or, (Cost about $90 per workstation for
the driver.)
B. Export (daily, hourly whatever) the additional table to a .dbf or
.csv table and link it to Crystal that way.
2. If you want to run the report from outside of Vantage but using live data
then,
A. Print/Preview the report Vantage report to the screen, then have the
user (with designer installed on their machine) preview the outside report
that references the .dbf files.
B. Print/Preview the Vantage report to the screen, then run a batch file
or VB routine which copies the .dbf files to somewhere where Crystal Web can
see it and then launch the Crystal Web report.

I have tried both option for #1 above, but haven't actually tried either of
the #2 options. I believe some others may have reports that run off a
VBForm or something while they Print/Preview the Vantage report.

I have linked an ODBC subreports to The Vantage standard Crystal Traveler
report (.dbf files). I would like to have this become my new standard
report. My understanding is that neither the Crystal report distribution or
Web component allow for this? Has anyone found a work around?

Thanks
