Vantage 5.1 / ODBC/ Crystal 8.5 Error 599

Don,
This works fine if you use the Merant ODBC drivers rather than the SQL-92 drivers that come with Progress. Another alternative is to export the required table/fields to a .csv file, and then use Access/ODBC to add the table to your crystal report. The export can be automated using the Task Scheduler in Windows. Let me know if you need more specifics.

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 5.1 / ODBC/ Crystal 8.5 Error 599

Good Morning ,

Is it possible to link a Vantage field that is not in the vntgwork directory
to a crystal report
using ODBC and run the report in Vantage?

I am testing to see if I can add a userfield to the quote it appears correct
in Crystal but when I try it within vantage Error 599.

Could you please explain to me how this can be done.
Does anyone have a report they are currently doing this?

Thank you

To add extra fields to the standard forms? Yes, It's been done.

The old UserFields that you define in the company config are considered
obsolete; you are better off going through VB Forms.

If you add a VB Form to your Quote header or detail, and give it an
"external name" it will be in the .DBF export file that gets created in
VntgWork. You will need to use Crystal Reports to update the form to
recognize that the field has been added. Use the Database -> Verify
Database option to update it.

According to Tech Support this is an unfixable ODBC error in 5.1.
You need to wait for 5.2 coming out in a month or so.
Sorry to be bearer of bad news, but we ran into same thing
and had to uninstall 5.1 and go back to 5.0.
