Crystal Version Issue

We have seen that 525 error when the report was looking in the wrong place
(drive, folder, etc.) for the report. Make sure you have the report
location correct in the "Report Style" function.

I think I may have made a couple of dumb moves regarding Crystal. I know
you guys can set me straight on whether or not I have goofed things up.

I lost the ability to get into Crystal and the best thing to do seemed to be
reload it on my computer. We got that accomplished and now I can get into
Crystal. However, we are on version 3.0 and (this was my first mistake) I
told them to go with Crystal version 7 when they did the new Crystal
install. It wasn't until after I had opened a report and saved it as the
new version without renaming it (this was my second mistake) that I realized
I should still be at Crystal version 6 for Vantage 3.0. Now in Vantage I
can't preview the form; I get an error message 525 - Open print-file error.
I'm guessing this is because Vantage is still looking for Crystal version 6
while the form is saved as Crystal version 7. I can still preview the form
if I revert back to a version I haven't fiddled with in Crystal 7.

Is there a way to put a form back to a previous version of Crystal?

It's been a while (almost 2 yrs) since I was on vantage 3.0, but I'm 95%
sure I used crystal 7 on 3.0. I believe Vantage tech support sent me some
files I had to update to get my version 7 reports to work with 3.0, but
after updating those files it worked fine. You should call vantage tech
support and ask them if they have the crystal 7 files required to use
crystal 7 with vantage 3.0. Maybe they'll remember what you need to do.

Crystal 7 would be the version of choice for Vantage 3.0. We used it for over a year with 3.0 and designed many reports - including customizing the Vantage reports. Your problem lies elsewhere.

Calling Epicor would be a good idea if you can find Ben or Jay or someone who was around during Vantage 3.0. They probably don't have a Vantage 3.0 database online now and may have to go on their past memory (plus some support documents they may still have hanging around).

I don't know for sure if Crystal 7 has this, Crystal 8 does. If you open a
file and do a "SAVE AS" at the bottom of the "SAVE AS" screen there is an
option "SAVE AS TYPE". Maybe your Crystal 7 has a save as type Version 6,
Like 8 has save as type 7

Nora,

I found this old support doc saved on my network. Try it....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following directions will allow you to print forms from Vantage 3.00
that have been modified with Crystal Reports version 7.

NOTE: According to Seagate, Vantage should be able to use the .dll files
Seagate recommended in Crystal 7 Help. As long as there are no Crystal 6
.dll files in the windows/system (or the NT equivalent) directory, there
should be no problem using Crystal 7 .dll's with Crystal reports (.rpt
files) that were created with Crystal 6.

1. Copy and replace the following .DLL files in the Vantage\Dll directory
(on server)
Replace:
- crpe32.dll version: 6.0.1.135 with crpe32.dll version: 7.0.0.192
- crpaig32.dll version: 5.0.0.1 with crpaig32.dll version: 5.0.0.2
- p2bxbse.dll version: 6.0.0.5 with p2bxbse.dll version:7.0.0.14

2. Add the following Crystal DLL's (located in Windows\Crystal or
Winnt\Crystal) to the Vantage\Dll folder (on the server):
- u252000.dll
- u25dts.dll
- u25store.dll
- u25total.dll
- u2L2000.dll
- u2Lbar.dll
- u2Lcom.dll
- u2Ldts.dll
- u2Lexch.dll
- u2Lfinra.dll
- u2Lsamp1.dll

If errors appear after completing steps 1 and 2 above; follow the
instructions below, referring back to the .dll list. After each step,
attempt to print the form in Vantage. If the error continues, go to the
next instructed fix.

3. Search the local drive (c:\) of each workstation for any 6.0 dll's. Any
.dll from the above list should be removed from workstations that DO NOT
have Crystal Reports 7.0 installed.

4. Copy the .dll files in the above list from the Vantage\dll to the
windows\system or (WinNt\System32). This must be done for each client.

5. Copy the dll files in the above list from the Vantage\dll to the DLC\BIN
folder on the server.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Vantage Version: 3.00
Crystal Reports Version: 7

In Crystal Reports, version 7.0, when you try to save, you will receive the
following warning:

"This report was created in version 5.0 or 6.0 of Seagate Crystal Reports.
If you save it, it will be updated to a new format that must be opened with
Crystal Reports 7.0 or later. Do you want to save the report and update
format? Yes or No?"

You have no choice but to say 'Yes' if you want to save the form. You
cannot open a form saved as a 7.0 form in Crystal 5 or 6, but you can open
older 5.0 or 6.0 forms without any problems.
