Crystal

OK guys, I'm definitely not a computer person, so be gentle (and be as
specific as possible). I haven't had to use Crystal reports in a while, and
now I can't get it to open. Since I last used it, my computer was changed
from Win95 to WinNT, if that could make any difference. I think our IS
person (He has left the company and has not yet been replaced) also did some
partitioning so that the Crystal program files are now on my E: drive. Are
there some configuration settings I need to change to be able to open it up
again and have it find Vantage properly as well? Help would be much
appreciated.
Thanks,

Was Crystal reinstalled on your current NT workstation?

If so, is the problem that you can't find the program, or you can't make it work?

I don't think it was reinstalled, but I think the drive it was on got
changed to E:. I didn't have a shortcut, and now when I go to
Start/Programs, it doesn't show up. When I went into explore, I couldn't
figure out which file in the Seagate directory might be the one to start the
program from there.

look for CRW32.EXE (at least that's what V7.0 uses) with windows explorer.
To create a new desktop icon, highlight the file, right click on the file
with the mouse, and and select 'Send To', and then select 'Desktop (create
shortcut)' in the popup window.

The Epicor site says 8.5 Crystal files (.DLLs) ship with Vantage 6.0. Actually same for 5.20 or any version running 9.1D Progress. I have not heard anything positive about Crystal 9 working OK and my experience with running anything other than what a version of Vantage was setup for has been really poor (ie. it did not work and was way too much hassle to fix).

I can verify for you that Crystal 8.0 does work with Vantage 6.0 for
many situations, but there are a couple of issues that we can not work
past until version 8.5 arrives here.

I'm having trouble with accessing Excel file information in Crystal. I'm
using the report Expert and select Database then ODBC then Excel files, I
will get the paths and can see my Excel files; however, when I select the
file it then tells me "no items found". What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rob,

I have found Excel to be less than optimal for storing data for use with crystal reports. Flat CSV files seem to work a bit better.

Are you reporting on data that has been exported from vantage?

Regards,

Thaddeus
