Customers pay from packing slips

In Invoice Tracker (at least in 6.1) there is the option to view in
Packing Slip order. Quite a few of our customers pay from packing slip.

Do any of you have customers that pay you directly from the packing
slip without requiring an A/R invoice?

If so, how do you handle it in your A/R department when you receive
payments since the invoice is not referenced on the payment.
