Customization "Deployment"

Under C:\Program Data\Epicor you will see instance directory for your various versions and connection (pilot/live/etc). Just delete these directories and customization will re-download into them. It is not clear how often the Epicor client does this on its own, but it seems that if you leave it long enough they eventually clear out on their own.

Justin.

Yes I did. We also do not store any cache on client systems. It very well could be a personalization issue.

Does anyone else ever run into situtations where: you've made customizations and done everything necessary to make sure they're correctly selected in menu maintenance; you've logged out and back in so there's no cache issues; if you go into customization maintenance >> actions >> modify customization, it comes up corretly. But if you go to it's location within the menu structure and don't run it in developer mode or if you go into customization maintenance >> actions >> run customization, it still comes up in it's previous form.

I've tried verifying the customization, even went into dashboard maintenance and deployed the UI. This doesn't happen every time, but ever now and again customizations don't seem to take. Am I missing a step?

Thanks,

Justin
Occasionally...I've had personalization's cause this behavior.. whereby when I subsequently smoked those, the form came in as expected. Might be something easy to check on..

Dashboards (v8.03.409c SQL) are very problematic. I have not done "customizations" yet to dashboards, but I do find that adding a report, making changes to the report, I cannot get the report to be in there except with the old format - unless I rename the report and add it again that way...

Hi Justin,

Have you tried to do a "Clear client cache" from Epicor options menu?

I've had that happen if the program is listed on the Favorites menu. There is a process to fix it that turns out to be your issue.

Thanks,

Referencing the clear client cache from the program I have found that its hit and miss. Below is the code for a .vbs that I wrote to clear the cache.

this was coded for Epicor 9.05 so you may need to tweak it a little if on other versions. Also verify that the path is correct for your environment.

First make sure the client is closed before running the script.

ON ERROR RESUME NEXT

dim filesys, folder1, folder2, path1, path2
set filesys = CreateObject ("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
path1 = "C:\ProgramData\Epicor\erp-9401"
path2 = "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Epicor\erp-9401"

IF filesys.FolderExists(path1) THEN
set folder1 = filesys.GetFolder(path1)
folder1.Delete 1
END IF

IF filesys.FolderExists(path2) THEN
set folder2 = filesys.GetFolder(path2)
folder2.Delete 1
END IF

You can delete the directory c:\ProgramData\Epicor\Vantage\8.03.409C (in Windows7 client) or c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ApplicationData\Vantage\8.03.409C (in Windows XP client) when that the new report won't come up. Close the client before you delete the directory, it will be recreated when you re-open Vantage. The new report will now come thru.
