Cut List Report

I'm not certain what you are referring to in this context by SDK but
thanks to those who have replied to this post, I have determined my
errors and all is hunky-dory.

SOFTWARE SPECS:
First of all, we are running Vantage 8.03.404B on a progress
database. We have not currently gone live and are going through our
implementation process. Legacy program was not an Epicor product.

QUESTIONS:
Now my questions are directed exclusively to the CutList report. We
have attempted to attach tables to it and then link through
CrystalReports XI Release 2 without any luck. No errors are thrown
up, the report simply does not function and messing around with the
linking you can get the report to function, but nothing will appear
on the tables that we are trying to add. Specifically we have tried
the JobMtl table and then the JobAssmble, (sp?), table.

....Basically, has anyone ever tried to modify the CutList report and
if so, what steps did you take? What problems did you encounter?


BACKGROUND:
We are trying to modify the cutlist report by placing the assembly
part number and description on there so that we can see what part
number we are going to be making without looking through the Job
Traveler. We went ahead and placed the JobAssmble table into a report
definitions table for a code entitled "CutList2"... We had a
consultant look at everything we did and it yet we are having
difficulty with adding the partnum and description fields. Whenever
we try to add fields from the JobAssemble table to the report, the
report goes blank. We have tried messing around with the links
between the JobAssemble table and the cutlist table with no luck.

You will not be able to retrieve any data from the added tables unless
you purchase the SDK module from Vantage.



If you are like us, it would have been nice if we had been told this
upfront instead of being told we could modify the existing reports to
fit our needs. No one told us there was an additional module that we
must purchase to have that ability.

Yes if you do not have the SDK it just does not work.

But how well do you know crystal.

You can create a Subreport that you can then link back to the main report
based on your key fields. I am on 8.03.305 so I do not know if the Report
Definition is the same as your version but in my version there is a Table
called CutList (not a true Vantage Table a Temporary Table made by Epicor in
there XML Output. In CutList Table there is JobNum and AssemblySeq so create
a Subreport, include the JobAsmbl Table and any other Tables you may want,
then link to it with these two fields (and company always link company).
Then in the Subreport add the fields you want to present.

But this will be an ODBC connection so you need to have Vantage, and make a
registry entry to the local PCs, to include the username and password for
the ODBC connection, besides having the ODBC driver install at the local
PCs. So when you run the CutList report it will output to an XML file, start
to create the main report and then run the Subreport in ODBC mode to
retrieve and present the data. If you need help with this reply back and I
can send you instructions on that.
