Data Collection and Scanning Equipment

We use TT5 units from computerwise with wand-style barcode scanners. Very
difficult to break and very cheap, though not as pretty as the computer data
collection. We can run up to 255 of the barcode scanners on one data
collection license - Currently, we run 10 barcode scanners for factory
coverage - they all send their data back to a PII class Celeron. The PII
uses the data collection license. Very affordable solution.

The barcode wands aren't the easiest in the world, though very cheap. We
would like to test some of the guns.

Is anyone using scanning equipment for Data Collection. Does anyone have
any recommendations on where to purchase the equipment?

How many Data Collection licenses do you own per number of employees to
successfully get employees logged onto a job and working on time?

Thanks for your input,

We use Welch-Allyn ImageTeam "gun" type scanners. Very rugged, virtually no setup (just plug in to keyboard line). Try www.systemid.com for ideas. We purchased from a local dealer who has provided excellent support.

We have about 1 DC PC per 10 employees. Never a problem getting people loged in due to grace period settings (15 min before rolls forward to shift start), ditto clocking out but the other way. Main issue for having locations close was to reduce walking around time getting to PC to change jobs.
