Datacollection Screen in Vantage 5.2

What I ended up doing was to write an overlay to the DC screen. It's a
small program that runs as a topmost level (over the top of the DC screen)
and fills in the remaing 4 missing buttons at the top and places another 2
over the top of Exit and Help (giving me a total of 6 custom buttons).
These are user defined in an INI file and are used to launch additional
programs like access to our Intranet and other in-house applications. It's
crude, but works.

Uh-oh.... Seems like you found the hidden surprise, Dina.
The only way (I know of) to make Plant Floor Data Collection look like
Office Data Collection would be to convert the "time clock" licenses to
"full" licenses...

They will get over it. Same exact thing happened here, but they got over it
fast... (BTW - the old DC screen is now called 'office data collection' and
is only available with office use licenses).

Unfortunately, NO. You must use a full user to get the "office" data
collection format. This was discussed here earlier this year and how much
usefulness was lost with no reason. It would have been easy for the list of
"who is here" to be in the blank space of the first screen or as someone
else here suggested, a "who is here" button. It has been almost 2 years
since we went to 5.1 and my plant floor folks still hate it (and me) for
this. We have gone to using a couple of full users on key stations in the
plant to give them the "office" view.

Not unless you want to use a 'full' Vantage license instead of a data
collection license. We had a lot of complaints initially (mostly from
people who want to know if they had already punched in). After a couple of
weeks it died down.

Knowing that to the typical end user that change is bad...usually very bad...when I upgraded from 4.0 to 5.1 I held training sessions with the plant staff to show them the new Plant DC screens and how to use them. After my training I had all users come up to the computer to practice logging in and out. This way I was there to address any issues or concerns that they had when using the new screens. Definitely helped facilitate the change!

We for the most part like the new screens. We no longer have people keeping track of other people's time. A personnel issue I admit but it worked for us.
