Subject: Mapi32.dll

Yesterday I began receiving errors on two workstations. When clicking OK
from the issues to manufacturing window, the following error would occur:

"Could not load DLL procedure mapi32.dll. (3258)"

If you clicked OK to the error dialog it returned you to the Issues screen.
I looked at the transaction history and it appears as though the transaction
was successful. If I print the production detail report, the transaction is
not there and if I view the inventory stock status, the item is still in
stock.

I did a find on the dll file and it produced no results. I then re-installed
Vantage on that client but the error persisted. I fixed the error by copying
the noted dll from a properly functioning machine and the problem has went
away.

My questions:

Has anyone else seen this?
What causes it?
Why the inconsistencies in my audit trail of the items the error occurred
on?

Thanks in advance

As I recall you have to save the data to disk and ship it to Epicor. They
do wonderful things to it (for a price) and ship it back to you. I would
contact your account rep or support to find out for sure. Good Luck

We are preparing to convert one of our divisions from Classic to Vantage. I
am not familiar with classic and could use a few pointers on how to export
data files. Can any of you old classic users help in this.

Thanks

MAPI is a PC email standard. You email client software will install its
own MAPI DLL files to allow other applications to exchange information and
messages with it.

Sounds like Vantage may have been trying to send Global Alerts? If you
aren't currently using them, perhaps someone was poking around and turned
them on?

Keep in mind that there are other macro managers out there. I currently
use Macro Express 2000 from Insight: http://www.macros.com/order.htm The
process writers make extensive use of it for the "canned" processes. I
personally use it for mass updates to part last cost.

Rhonda,

We also had our data converted but they do offer a second option --
basically a "how-to" on mapping Classic files to Vantage tables. We have
not had the problems that Todd had with our files. After our first
conversion none of our BOM's were complete (the assemblies did not tie
together) and we determined it was an Epicor bug so they redid our data (for
free) and the second time all was well. The biggest data entry chore we
encountered was in the vendor master where everything was defaulted to one
invoice per check (we put all invoices on one check) and in the employee
master where everything except basic data had to be reentered (deduction
master, tax master and the employee's specific tax info and deductions).
Also, the birth dates were all '20' instead of '19' -- looking as though we
hired people that weren't even born yet. They may have corrected that since
I did report it as a problem. Other than that it was pretty clean and I
definitely would not hesitate to do it that way again -- unlike Todd we did
not enter anything on Vantage until the data was converted and the database
installed. One suggestion -- get rid of any old "junk" before you bring it
over since you already know that in Vantage once it's in there you can't get
rid of it.

Subject: RE: RE: Classic to Vantage

We converted 9/1/2000. But to be fair we did throw a curve or two.
Although we pre-loaded many of the master files they were loaded with the
same codes as in Classic so they should have linked. But the Classic data
was 12 years old and full of garbage. I would agree very much with the
suggestion to clean out Classic data. We eliminated over half of the
customers and 2/3rds of the parts and methods and ran every clean or purge
routine we could. Perhaps we went overboard and this left some dangling
references but we used the regular Classic routines so this should have
cleaned everything up. We also skipped conversion of all SO's, Jobs and
Quotes and are ramping up with Vantage was we phase out the old Classic
jobs. Since job history would not come over anyway we would be starting
cleaning regardless and we have all the SO info in paper bundles. So it was
probably not the typical conversion.

The basic procedure they use is:
1. Special backup for conversion (CONVBACK) on a tape they send you.
2. If you have some Vantage data copy .DB files to zip disk or CD
3. Send to Epicor
4. Wait a week or so and prepare to answer lots of questions about how to
handle exceptions
5. They send a CD back with converted database

We actually did it twice and revealed the purchasing suggestions check box
issue in our conference room pilot.

Anyone who can give me a clue on this. It seems to be on the email server
side of things, which I know nothing about. Here's the problem:

Trying to get the Alert on Shipment alert going (we don't use any other
alerts at this time). After shipping a job by printing a packing slip, The
alert goes into the Error log with the error: A mail recipient is not in the
address list. Spent an hour on the phone with Virginia at Epicor checking
everything on the vantage side. I get the email address (my own in the test
case) right from Outlook Express 5/Outlook 2000 address book that comes up
when I specify TO: The name perfectly matches my name in Vantage as TROY
FUNTE. There are no salesmen checked to send the alert to, so that
shouldn't block things.

No matter what I do, the alert ends up in the error log. Whenever I check
the recipeint, there is a RED question mark next to the name in the TO: box.

WE use MDaemon as our email server software. Anyone use that with Global
Alerts? Are there settings I should check?

Subject: [Vantage] Mapi32.dll

Yesterday I began receiving errors on two workstations. When clicking OK
from the issues to manufacturing window, the following error would occur:

"Could not load DLL procedure mapi32.dll. (3258)"

If you clicked OK to the error dialog it returned you to the Issues
screen.
I looked at the transaction history and it appears as though the
transaction
was successful. If I print the production detail report, the transaction
is
not there and if I view the inventory stock status, the item is still in
stock.

I did a find on the dll file and it produced no results. I then
re-installed
Vantage on that client but the error persisted. I fixed the error by
copying
the noted dll from a properly functioning machine and the problem has went
away.

My questions:

Has anyone else seen this?
What causes it?
Why the inconsistencies in my audit trail of the items the error occurred
on?

Thanks in advance

Troy,

Do you use ADP Payroll with Vantage without using the ADP interface?

If so, how? Do you use the Payroll module? Or some other method?

Charles,

We set up work orders to issue the parts to the subcontractor as an
operation then tie the work order to the Purchase Order.
I hope this helps.

I have set up purchase orders with our subcontractors for yearly
quantities. I want to be able to use packing slips to send parts to
them, but the packling slip does not reference the PO I am shipping
against. Is anyone doing something similiar that can point me in the
right direction.
TIA
Chuck

Troy,

Is the alert being generated from your station or another? If on another do
they have outlook running and the recipient in their addressee list spelled
exactly the same way that yours was. We have noticed that if outlook isn't
running on the generating machine, or if the name does not exist or match it
will end up in the error logs.

Chuck,

I think I know what you are saying. We send lots of parts to
subcontractors, but when we making sub packing slips, it does not reference
the PO. currently we type it in with a note. Not the best solution, but a
work around until Vantage changes the system to link it.
