Document Associations

Joanne, we fax the PO to ourselves, save the fax file with the SO number in
the file name, and the button on the VB form runs a small VB Program that
opens that file. To make it easier, we included a field on the VB form
where we enter the SO number if the PO is available to be viewed. That way
the user knows as soon as he opens the VB form if the PO is there.
Otherwise they click on the button and wonder why nothing happens. You do
not get an error or message if there is no PO to view. The program behind
the button is:
shellexec
v:\Vantage\VBforms\CustomerPOs\{OrderHed.CHAR-FIELD_1.scrvalue}.g3n

Jerry:
That is something we could use. Could you tell us the steps to create the
VB button for this. I'm sure that this would be apprecitated. Thanks.

We use a VB form to "link" our customer's PO to our Sales Order. A button
on the VB form opens a scanned or faxed image of the PO for the SO you are
viewing. Works well. We do not have the Doc Management module.
Everytime we try to update a work order, we get a ProWin error and
illegal operation and then booted out of Vantage. We think it is due
to a corrupt file in the document assocation procedure. We are at a
standstill on updating work orders that have a Word Document
associated with it. Does anyone know how to find out which work
orders have a word document associated with it. I really need help.
Thanks
Chuck
Charles,

You can write a quickie report builder report against the following tables
to check things out.

"DocAssoc" - shows the ext and the related programs

"Drawings" - Relates documents to files/keys

Good Luck

Slowly but surely our Vantage 3.0 is becoming functional.

I wonder if anyone will tell me whether Document Associations are
available in the Order File in 4.0. We'd love to attach customers'
purchase orders.

Please e-mail me direct at judy.havlik@.... Thanks for your
help.
