Linking a Scan Copy of Order to the Order

I'm sure you could do it with a VB form. We wrote our own application to track documents. We put a button on the Sales Order header that says "Documents". When the user clicks on the button it opens a Visual Basic program we call Document Tracker and lists only the documents for that Sales Order. On the Document Tracker screen there is a button to Scan or Attach additional Documents. You can see screen shots at www.ktcorp.com/vantage/docmang/ I blotted out the customer name and other info that I can't share on the web. It would normally be in there.

This takes alittle more to setup then the vb form but I think it has lots of options. More dificult for IT to setup but much easier for the user to use.

I'm finishing up version 3 this week if you want it. Just let me know. No cost just more work to install.

You could save the image as the order number "022151.tif", place them in
general folder in a known location, it would not be that difficult to locate
with AutoVue, etc...

You can do that through VB forms, you need to set up a BUTTON, a text
field, and create a directory to store your scans.

Go into VB forms create your BUTTON enter the following script in the
button COMMANDS window

SHELLEXEC E:\FORMCOMP\4_03\ORDERdocs\{Orderhed.CHAR-FIELD_1.scrvalue}

Change the file path to point to your ORDER directory.

Enter the complete file name in the CHAR-FIELD_1 field. (use the full
file name and extension. "Custorder.jpg" ) DO NOT USE ANY SPACES.

When you click the button your scan will open up with whatever is your
default view.

Alternativly, to make the whole thing a bit more accessable. Create a
spreadsheet or word document as your "Customer Document" then Hyperlink
your scans to that. That way you don't have to come up with a
Naming scheme. Just keep putting the same customer file name into your
CHAR-FIELD. You can also add other pertinate documents to your customer
file. I use both approaches depending on the situation

Patrick -

You are correct on this but unfortunately the person that would be using it
- that would be difficult for her. She can not understand how to attach a
file to email - or to save documents in other directorys - she gets
confused. So if it is not click - view it will not work for her.

Is there away to attach it via VB Form?
