Hi Andy,
What a great trick. I set it up in Vantage 8.03.407 and it works
beautifully. Thank you.
Regards,
Linda

Subject: [Vantage] Document Attachments - Linking to a Folder
We are using document attachments in Vantage 6.1 with the CRM module to
link to documents on a network share that relate to the given quote.
After some trial and error I was able to "trick" Vantage into letting us
link to folders, rather than individual files. Now when you select the
"document" that links to the folder, and click the "View" button,
windows explorer opens up to that folder. This gives us a lot of
flexibility over and above link to individual documents.
To do this:
Setup the Document Association:
1) Open Vantage, navigate to "System Management" then "Configuration
Maintenance" and then open "Document Association".
2) Under the "Edit" menu choose "Add"
3) Fill in as follows:
3a) Extension = \
3b) Description = Windows Folder
3c) View Command = explorer.exe "&1"
3d) Click "OK"
Now when in a "Document" window for a quote line, part rev, etc. you
can:
1) Click "Add"
2) Enter whatever you desire to have in the description field
3) If you want to link to the folder Y:\Attachments\, then enter he
following path in the "File Name" field: Y:\Attachments\.\
4) Click "OK"
I have NOT tried with with Vantage 8 or Epicor 9, but it works like a
charm in Vantage 6.1
Have fun!
