If you use Payroll Electronic Deposit I would like to contact you.
I need the output record in an ACH format and wonder is someone has already
done this.

I would be interested in this information, too. I have been trying for way
too long to get our bank to tell me what the format needs to be. So far
all I get is "It needs to be ACH format". I know there are people out
there who are converting the Vantage .txt file to the required format for
banks. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

We have required our employees to have their PR checks direct deposited
since 1994. Prior to Vantage adding the DD function within PR, the bank
gave us software that we had to key the info into and then transmit the file
to them. The addition of the function to Vantage saved us hours (literally)
each pay period. We allow each employee to have up to 3 accounts we deposit
into. We have dealt with 3 different banks in recent years and each one of
them provided software that would import the text file that Vantage creates,
create the infamous "NACHA" formatted that they say they need, and then
transmits that file to their system. Press your bankers. When we switched
banks 2 yrs ago, the local officer said "they could handle direct deposits,
but our PR software would have to create a NACHA file. If it couldn't then
it was not very good PR software." We told him then we could not do
business with them, he contacted his ACH division at their HQ and found out
it was no problem. They sent us the software and away we went. Local
officers probably do not understand, you need to talk to their ACH
department. We are in rural Western Pennsylvania and the 3 major banks in
town all provide this software.
Our procedure is to process payroll as normal and when ready print the
"checks"(all void) on plain paper to provide the employees a stub to look
at. When you print the checks, Vantage forces you to provide a name for the
DD text file it creates at the same time the checks print. We then open the
bank software program and tell it to run a predefined import routine that we
created to map the info the banks needs to fields in the Vantage file. The
Vantage file contains lots of unnecessary info. The banks needs very little
info (routing #, account#, name on account, and amount). When the import
finishes (about 1 minute for 100 employees), we verify totals with our PR
register, and transmit the file. After printing checks, the entire process
is about 15 minutes with no data input at all.
This year our bank opened a web page to use instead of software. The
process is the same except that we open the web page and import the file to
their server.
I would be happy to talk with anyone about this process. This is one area
where I think Vantage works very well.

We are using Electronic deposit and Vantage Payroll but we are
using another program to do the ACH conversion. The Bank we
use installed the conversion program.

We have been using electronic deposit since January. The program we
use is Max Banker that will accept the Vantage 5.0 export file.
