One last question on direct deposit [smc wire fabricators]

Thank you for the offer Scott. Our bank has finally come through with the
software to create the ACH file. Thanks again to everyone who supplied
input. It is still frustrating that Vantage does not create this file and
that we must obtain additional software to use the direct deposit feature.

I have written a Visual Basic Application that creates the ACH file using
using the data exported by Vantage. It is free, if you want it just let me
know.

We are almost ready to go live with direct deposit. Since the file sent to
the bank is not in the nacha format, we must buy software from the bank to
convert it. Cost is $300. We are wondering if any others out there using
direct deposit had to purchase the software or if the bank provided it as a
customer service convenience?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Karen,

I created a quick VBScript that converts the file Vantage creates into an
ACH file (bank format). The program is small, easy to use, and works on all
Windows machines - no extra installs. I'll send you a copy - as a text
file, though - VBScripts don't get through too many email systems anymore :)

Christopher,

If you could possibly upload the VBscript to the visual basic portion of the
Files section, that would be most helpful.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I will include the scripts and files as text in the body of this message.

I'm not up on the accounting portion of this procedure, but I do know that
when accounting is ready to print checks, there is an option that allows
them to create a text file. They give the file a name - usually something
like DD20010914.txt. This text file is a comma separated list of everyone
who is supposed to be paid and includes their account numbers. The next
paragraph is an example of one of our export files - names and accounts have
been changed to protect the innocent :) It is really only four lines, but I
had to break each line into three in the next paragraph because of text
wrapping.

The text file exported from Vantage needs to be in the same directory as the
VBscript. I have the script setup to ask for the name of the export file.
You type the name in, and it runs. The code for the VBscript is in the
paragraph below. To create the script file, right click on the desktop,
select New, and select Text Document. A new text document appears on the
desktop. The name is highlighted for you to change. You can call it
whatever you like - I call it Direct Deposit Converter.vbs. The extension
is VERY important - you must change it from .txt to .vbs or the script.
Open this file in notepad (or another text editor) and paste the following
lines of code into it:

Do you need Visual Basic Scripting Support or Windows Scripting Host
installed on the machine to run this?

Rick
I've been running it Windows 2000 machines - standard installs. You may be
correct about 95/98. I'm not sure.

I have written a Visual Basic Application that creates the ACH file using
using the data exported by Vantage. It is free, if you want it just let me
know.

Subject: [Vantage] ONE LAST QUESTION ON DIRECT DEPOSIT [SMC WIRE
FABRICATORS]

We are almost ready to go live with direct deposit. Since the file sent to
the bank is not in the nacha format, we must buy software from the bank to
convert it. Cost is $300. We are wondering if any others out there using
direct deposit had to purchase the software or if the bank provided it as a
customer service convenience?

Thanks in advance for any input.
