E9: Will upgrade to Epicor9 affect file attachments

Yes, our attachments from 6.1 all the way to 9.05.700c have made it thru
the upgrade process.

Subject: [Vantage] E9: Will upgrade to Epicor9 affect file attachments

We are currently on Vantage8.03.409C: We have not used the file
attachments before but are looking to do it now, before the upgrade. So
will the files that we attach now stay linked after the upgrade? We are
going to upgrade to 9.05.701.

Thanks for any help,
Dan

Vantage has a crummy way of doing attachments, in my opinion. Attachments don't actually attach/upload, so someone may inadvertently attach something from their local drive.

To answer your question though, they will stick around after the upgrade, although if you have attachments on the same server and you upgrade servers when you go to E9, you'll need to convert the links. There's a utility in the Files section.

E9 has the ability to do what they call 'File System' attachments, which lets you actually upload attached files to a central location. It still has some quirks, but it's a big improvement over Vantage/Vista.
