Epicor 9.05.700C - Sales tax being charged on freight charges

Double check that your Miscellaneous charges came over correctly in the conversion.   Under Tax Information, it should have a Tax Category that is exempt.

Subject: [Vantage] Epicor 9.05.700C - Sales tax being charged on freight charges

We have certain customers that need to be charged sales tax and we have always had this situation and it has only charged sales tax on the items being purchased. It seems now the customers are being charged sales tax on the freight charge also. I have had three customers call in the past week and I think this has something to do to moving up to 9.05.700C. Has anyone else noticed this issue? If so, have you been able to fix it?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

You need to create a Tax Product Category for shipping. Â We use Tax Connect, so we enter the product code that is appropriate for shipping charges in the Code field, then Avalara takes care of the rates. Â I believe that if you are managing tax rates yourself, you would use the tax rate tab.

I forgot the next step to this:

Once you have the tax product category, then put that on the misc charge you are using for shipping charges.

You have to have a Tax Category that is specifically freight. Depending on how your freight charges are classified, there are different codes in use here. We use both FR020100 and F0000000. These codes tell Avalara that it is a freight charge and will only charge tax in those state that have taxable freight.

I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about the setup.

No problem.

We have the need to store electronic signatures that will be used on various custom Crystal and SSRS reports for several forms and reports.

We want to store the signatures in a UD so that we can allow for the choice of which signature the users wants on the “set” of forms and/or reports during a print request.
