Hello.
Next Friday my company will be upgrading to Epicor 9. We currently have Vantage 8.03.404B. For those of you who have already made this upgrade, are there any major differences and/or bugs that we should be aware of ahead of time?
If you are asking this question I am assuming you haven't tested it....????

If you have not I would highly recommend you move your upgrade and do a test
install first.
There are a LOT of bugs, the financials where completely re-done there are a
lot of differences. I would beg you not to upgrade without first having a
few days to check out the new stuff.

Also I would recommend upgrading past 9.04 and NOT to just base 9 even go as
far as 9.5

My 2 cents

Thanks!

I don't mean to be a smart ass, but have you done any testing yet?
There are substantial changes throughout the software and various bugs
depending on the particular version you're going to.

Pay special attention to the new UOM stuff and thoroughly test all your
financial stuff as the posting engine and such has been pretty much scrapped
and rebuilt from the ground up.

What version of 9 are you going to? For my 2 cent, if you're going to take
the leap I'd highly recommend going whole hog and moving straight to the
most recent 9.05 release. Go 64bit, but take the time to do it RIGHT.

I'm not sure what version we're going to as I'm not the one in charge. I think I recall hearing the president say we're going to the latest version though.

Going to repeat what the other 2 have said..... have you tested? How many times have you been through the install process? Do you have the UOM DB created for the conversion process? Have you trained your department heads on the changes?

9 is an overhaul and you will be cursing life and epicor if you haven't adequately prepared. The entire accounting side is changes. UOM introduces a lot of problems that will haunt you for weeks if you don't know about them in advance. ALL customizations will most likely have to be redone. All you BPMs have to be verified. The list goes on.

We spent over 6 months prepping for the upgrade. I personally had went through the upgrade process around 15 times and I was still a little nervous when it came time to do it.

Going to repeat what I said . . . I'm not the one in charge. I have nothing to do with the install or the testing process. I was only asking to satisfy my curiosity.

As an end user you will not notice much. Quotes, Orders, Job Entry, MES, Purchasing are all roughly the same. We experienced very little disruption in these areas.

Part entry can be a big problem due to the UOM.

Anything for accounting there will be a learning process.

If you use a lot of customizations and your upgrade team hasn't looked at them you will be using the default forms until they rebuild everything. This applies to BPM's and potentially any other business logic that your company has created.

Its almost a guarantee you will run into problems with UOM and it will drive your users nuts.

DITTO to what Zac said.

There are MAJOR changes – you need to test the begeezers out it! We have been testing for MONTHS! Just the UPGRADE takes DAYS of processing. Tons of functionality changes.

I agree with what the others have said - test, test, test.

With the UOM and Financials changing, not only do you need to test the base
applications, but any reports/BAQs you have written will likely have to be
redone - as they are a completely different schema.

Hello.
Next Friday my company will be upgrading to Epicor 9. We currently have
Vantage 8.03.404B. For those of you who have already made this upgrade, are
there any major differences and/or bugs that we should be aware of ahead of
time?
