Thanks for the screen shots, that really helps since I don’t have the module.
How do you get the service call Line onto a Job?

I would expect there to be the following check box somewhere in the process of creating the job and/or when issuing the material to the service job.
![]()
I think that’s only for assigning a serial number from job material as the serial number of the parent assembly. Or at least that’s the only place where I’ve seen it. We need the SN from the JobHead part.
Well, this would not be the first or last time something isn’t really thought through in Epicor.
Don’t you have to issue the part that you are servicing as a material? I could be wrong, but I am thinking of when an RMA gets put on a job. In those instances, part A is returned and dispositioned to a job that is for part A. So, you can flag it that the SN rolls up. It ends up being a circular reference, but that is allowed on RMA jobs. I thought that the service jobs worked the same way, but I could be wrong.
Still talking about Field Service module here, it’s basically selling services and parts to a customer at an onsite visit, the product being the customer’s property through the process. I’ve not seen any decent inhouse service process from Epicor and quite honestly wouldn’t dream of one, having seen what the logic is behind some of these other functions.
Yeah, I am trying to go from memory here as it was 8 years ago when it was the last time I worked with Field Service. However, I had our system set up to intake a serialized product, put it on a job, do the repairs/updates, ship it back out, either invoice $0 (for warrantied parts) or invoice labor plus materials (with a margin on top of each), and have the history of the service in the SN history; all using base Epicor functionality.
Sorry I could not help you get this figured out.
