I just created Epicor idea 1518 https://epicor-manufacturing.ideas.aha.io/ideas/ERP-I-1518 and I encourage your to read it and vote if you like it.
Currently, Epicor has an “Urgent Planning” set of parameters that allow the part to have a second supplier/leadtime/Min order & Order Multiple. This works fine when the item is purchased.
But there are instances where Urgent Planning may change the way you acquire the material/part. For example, maybe you typically purchase the item, but in urgent settings, you make it instead. Maybe you normally transfer it from another site, but in urgent setting, you purchase directly from a supplier. Or, how about if you always make it, but when urgent, you make it with a different Alternate Manufacturing method.
Suggestion is to add several additional fields to the Urgent Planning section, and also add logic to MRP to process this data:
- UP_SourceType - This would either be P=Purchased, T=Transferred, or M=Manufactured
- UP_SourceSite -if UP_SourceType = “T”, what is the source site.
- UP_TransferLeadTime - if UP_SourceType = “T”, this is the transfer leadtime
- UP_AlternateMethod - If UP_SourceType = “M”, you could specify the alternate method
