Epicor - New Window Jumps to Back of Screen

Hi All,

We just moved to having a local client installed pointed to our Epicor in Azure rather than using a RDS Host. We are on 10.2.400.11.

It seems like every time you open up a new window in Epicor, it jumps to the back of all other applications you have open. For example, I have e10 help open in chrome. If I open up epicor in front of it, then open up order entry, all of the Epicor windows will jump to behind chrome.

Doesn’t bother me a ton but it has some people up in arms. Anyone else experience this and know of a way to make it not happen? Thanks for your help.

Do all users running it via the local Client experience this? And 100% of the time on 100% of the windows?

We’re On Premises, but most users run via a RD app. The few that do run the local client have not mentioned this.

However, every now and then, the list of windows in the task bar will get out of order. After launching the client, the task bar entry for the main window appears first (left to right)

Opening subsequent windows makes their task bar entry appear to the right of the main

And every now and then, the new window’s task bar entry appears to the left of the original main window’s entry

Do you see anything like this?

Preach on Mike. I’ve seen this issue consistently on Remote App clients and cloud hosted clients.

If you single-click to open the menu item does the problem still occur?

I have had the search window pop under other screens.
You need to learn to [Alt][Tab] to find the new popup window.
I haven’t been keeping track, but I believe any window might do it if there’s a pop up window.
This is for 10.2.400 - haven’t seen it prior to that release.

@ckrusen Not sure if it is everyone, but I have heard from many and assume the others are just not saying anything. I just expanded the taskbar and couldn’t get it out of order like you mentioned, but I normally have them stacked so I wouldn’t notice if it did…

Also, no it is not every time. It actually sometimes doesn’t do it the 2nd time you do the same action. But generally always happens when you freshly open Epicor and repeat the same steps. There is probably a pattern to it I have not found yet but it is pretty common during normal use.

@Adam Not sure how I would do that, but it also happens when you launch forms from within a form, like Duplicate Quote from withing a Quote…

@LarsonSolutions Yes, it definitely happens more when there is a pop up involved. Duplicate quote is one that we frequently use that causes it to happen the most. It will send not only the pop up but all of the Epicor screens to the back. Sure, the alt-tab works but it is still an issue and like everything, some people will use that “trick” but others will continue to do it the way they always have which means they need to re-arrange their active apps every time they perform certain tasks.

We see it when opening the print menu for Job Traveler from Job Entry in 10.1.500.18. Like @Chris_Conn mentioned, we’re using RemoteApp.

seems this is the bug from 10.2.400.8

Our system doesn’t do it as you describe, ours sometimes (and this is most frustrating thing) opens up an Epicor screen behind the screen what is currently open. For example I could be in Sales Order Entry and I want to look at an associated job number. I’d right click on the job number > open with Job Tracker and the job tracker pops up behind the Sales Order Entry screen. It also may only leave a tinny slither of the job tracker screen to click on. I’ve no idea how to fix it and I’ve learned to live with it myself but it drives others in the business insane
