How are you doing a compare budget to actual on the balance sheet in the financial reports provided in Vantage?

We use the Financial Report Generator in Vantage.
It is a bit goofy to understand at first yet we compare year-to-year, budget vs. actual, etc.
for many things including Balance sheet & P/L.

Recently we have started using CorVu and are really pleased with the ability to create charts, alerts and analysis. Some database background certainly helps with this.

Can anybody tell me is it is possible to generate financial
statements (Income Statement & Balance Sheet) from the Vantage system
using Report Builder. If so can someone point me in the right
direction on how to go about doing this?

Joan,

I use MS-Access for importing the GL tables and generate financials that
way. The reason being, you will need to make a lot of calculations and RB
might not be the application to use. You need to consider that to compare
current and previous performances, enter percentages, etc. is a bit
complicated. Also, I have 2 databases and companies within the databases
that need to be consolidated. This is an on-going project for me. With the
help of the financial manager, I have made big progress on Balance Sheets.
My project includes Balance Sheet (individual and consolidated), Income
Statement, Cash Flow, etc. If you or any body in the group have RB
financials, please share them with the group.

Joan,

General Ledger -> Master File Maint. We've desinged a Balance Sheet,
Income Statment, and a detailed Schedule of Expenses which we
generate in Vantage. The open Excel and use a macro to modify the
formatting to our liking. Works well.

We use the same. If we need any "special" formatting I just save it to excel and reformat. It works great.
