Hi Todd,
We are running global scheduling finitely in a limited manner, only on one type of operation (Lab Testing) which we have marked as finite. From my understanding, you need to run global scheduling to have the finite scheduling algorithm run.
A big disappointment for us has been that after the global run, when you wish to move a job on the schedule, you can do it finitely, in which it finds a spot that it fits, but you cannot move it where you want and have other jobs automatically move finitely in response. To get that to happen, we need to lock the moved job in place and then run global scheduling again.

One of our objectives with Epicor is to get our act together on the Scheduling side of things. We have been doing a number of tests in our Live db, Vantage 6.0; one of them with Finite Scheduling. We had expected that if we flag a Work Center for Finite Scheduling and ran the Job Scheduling process, that the Finite rules would come into play...they do not.We are guessing that Finite Scheduling may be activated if we run the Global Rescheduling process, but we're not at a point where we are comfortable doing this. We intend to try it in a separate Vantage Test db, but I wondered if anyone has any insight into this that might save us the time and effort required in testing.ThanksTodd GilbertMass Precision, Inc
