Mass Scheduling Jobs

Beware: We've just discovered Global Scheduling in 403c behaves quite differently (and not in a good way) compared to 305i.

403c no longer respects the whether a resource has been set up as finite or infinite capacity.

If you run the Global with finite scheduling checked off, ALL unlocked (schedule), engineered job-ops are now finitely scheduled (even if the resource is defined as infinite).

If you run the Global with finite scheduling NOT checked, (again for engineered jobs that aren't marked as schedule locked), ALL job-ops are scheduled infinitely - even in critical resources defined as finite.

This is a major problem for us that we have not yet figured out how to counter. Within our plant we have two distinct departments:

1. A (necessarily) finite multi-resource defined (and quite complex) CNC machine shop for make-to-stock component production.

2. An (also necessarily) infinite multi-resource defined Assembly area where we use make direct part jobs to fulfill customer orders. (Essentially a flow shop that fullfills 70.) We will not allow a finite scheduler to essentially control our revenue generating resource loading as we can move cross-trained people between our 13 product assembly lines to handle constantly shifting loads (as our 'pesky customers as a group' rarely order products that result in conveniently 'perfectly balanced' loading).

I'm hoping it is a 403c bug and patch will soon correct.

If it was an intentional (and presumably permanent) change, Epicor needs to explain why Vantage continues to force such excessively complex resource-group/resource/department/resource-calendar/shift/employee set up & maintenance - if it is all for naught as a result of this change.

Again, I'm hoping it is a bug as we have also found scheduling priority defined scheduling multipliers do not influence the resulting 403c schedules anywhere near as effectively as in 305i (which wasn't too hot to begin with).

Is there a way to Mass schedule jobs that will not reschedule jobs?
If you are not using finite scheduling you can run the Global Finite
Schedule. It will schedule anything that hasn't been but won't
reschedule what has
