I’ve seen SC do the same thing, even went through the hoops with support, it’s only happened to me a couple times though, and always seemed to resolve itself. Good luck, and if you find a root cause please share!

Ken I looked I am only allowing one thread at a tme and I hav e 8 app servers sitting there doing nothing. Very strange.

I have seen the same on occasion. Only resolution I have found is reboot the SC server, for my occurrences anyway.

We had some trouble like this during the setup of SC for our near real-time data collection. We found that SC just sort of corrupts a workflow, arbitrarily, OR at least that’s that only ‘cause’ we could get Epicor Tech Support to even come close to agreeing to after about two weeks of down time. So we keep a backup of the SC environment node (from inside the Admin tool) just in case we need to restore it and write over any corruptness.
But I do agree with the others about rebooting the SC Appserver. In our environment, we’ve got a dedicated Appserver for SC, and we’ve tuned it a bit.
Something you mentioned triggered for me about the usage license type – there was something we did with the .Net connections to use a service license rather than the regular end-user license – but we only have a handful of them… I don’t know if you’re using the same license setup, but it’s another thing to check into. You may have hit a wall on that.
Also – since we’re doing almost real-time collection, we tried the multi-threaded options and it did not work the way Epicor said it would (or that we interpreted) so we reconfigured some of that as well. IT seemed that it multiplied the number of processes and we ran out of licenses (Appserver connection failures).
All of the above lead us to get Appserver errors. Maybe some of it will jog a memory and help you out.

Jose, you might try to change the timeout and/or retries in the service connect workflow for the step(s) that get this issue. We have some sales orders with many releases that take a long time and can get past the issue with these settings. I don’t really know if that will help with unable to connect to appserver or if that is just for operation timed out errors, but it is worth a test or two…Maybe it will work for unable to connect also since theoretically it might retry until a license is free?

Yes, Licensing was my first though to. Look in the Epicor Administration Console, under the Sessions, and see if Service Connect has a whole bunch of active sessions hanging around. Although, when we had that issue, our end-users were also getting messages about licenses running out.
