On Friday, it’s EpiUsers Frideas Day! Have you been to the Epicor Ideas Portal recently? If so, are there some ideas you want to encourage other users to vote for? Maybe want to add comments to an existing idea?

I’ve seen a handful of new, good ideas this week… but I don’t want to steal anybody’s thunder. Bring them in and get some votes!

Add column ordering options in Grid Guided Setup | Epicor Ideas Portal
We really need this! I’ve seen quite a few frustrated posts here on epiusers about ordering BAQ columns in App Studio. Let’s make this happen!

This isn’t my idea but I came across it as I was browsing ideas.

Improve Change Log
In the classic change log we put the detail panel side by side with the list panel, so you could quickly move through the rows in the list and the detail panel would refresh so you could quickly find what you are looking for. In Kinetic you have to click on the date to get the detail panel to open. It would be much better if the detail was always shown and you could “highlight” a row instead of “clicking” on the date in a row, so you could quickly move from row to row and the detail would update as you switch rows. This is the most important issue as it is so tedious now that it really is unusable.

All, Happy Friday (Fridea)!

I have so many… my biggest failure is getting Epicor to get Collaborate up to speed. We have all but abandoned it at this point.

Here are two that would go a long way to helping us with the non-ECM, Attachments:

  1. Log In - Epicor Identity
FILE ATTACHMENTS: Add functionality to rename at the time of upload, and allow editing the file name after upload.

  2. Log In - Epicor Identity
Create one more level of folders in standard Attachments based upon SO#, QU#, Part#, etc.

Thanks!

If you are on cloud, and you need to be able to customize your ssrs reports, like ever, then you should be voting for this. I don’t understand how you think you will be able to customize your reports once classic goes away.
Design SSRS should display the error message - classic parity

Data Collection / MES (Shop Floor) – Make login UI more prominent and touch friendly

You can’t really do anything without clocking in as an employee, but its a small button in the top right. Clocking in and out is one of the main things we do, could they be easier to hit and more prominent? Especially clocking in.

OK… I have a few favorites, and since we are now in the scoping process for 2025.2, some of these came up in my view. They may be more obscure, but are important:

and this NEXT one… i have done this as a field enhancement at multiple customers… and it was in one of our legacy packages, but Kinetic needs this too!:

I’m not seeing the case for this one. Could be my brain is already out on vacation though.

We do this currently as a back end process to help with purchasing cost & visibility even though we are Standard cost for inventory. It is very helpful for us and would be a nice built-in feature.

Umm, what about 2025.1??? It would be nice to know what other changes to expect beyond the two features that are currently showing up in the polls area.

@aosemwengie1 if you go to Epicor Ideas, and look at the ideas that are in the status of “In Development”, you will see a list of items that are coming in 2025.1.

Not to quote you to yourself . . . .but you previously told us that in development did NOT mean it was coming in the next release.

I just got to work and missed all of this from this morning. Man, I think I’ll just wait till next week, there are so many other ideas already.

Clearly you all have finally returned from your 4-week-long holiday breaks.

Well @aosemwengie1, that was a very long time ago, and that was before we established firmer procedures for what each status means… remember our idea status values are used across all of Epicor (not just Kinetic), so while I had some input on what these are, this was not a “Kinetic” decision, but one that we are using. Here is the general rule on how these status values are used and what they mean.

  1. Submitted: Someone entered the idea… we have not reviewed it, or it is still being reviewed for consideration.
  2. Gauging Interest: We have reviewed the idea and decided it was worthy to monitor for possible inclusion in the future
  3. In Development. The idea is in development and will be delivered in the next release. When we put the idea into this status, it is also associated with an EPIC, and the status automatically updates… so we also put an ADMIN Comment on the Idea with the projected software release that this will come to completion. ALSO, as the EPIC/Story gets completed, we update the admin status again with more info.
  4. Delivered: Once the release goes GA, we change the status to Delivered. This typically coincides when when the next release’s ideas go into development.
  5. Not Planning to Implement: Pretty self explanatory… we typically put an admin note as to why.
  6. Expired: Idea is getting old and musty, and there was not enough votes for it to remain out there… each team has their own expiration requirements… for Kinetic it is 1 year with < 5 organizations, or 2 years with < 10 organizations interested… this might change in the future.
  7. Already Exists: It is funny how many ideas we get for things that the software already does.
  8. Bug: Epicor ideas is not a place to report bugs… we need to keep bugs going through the proper channels.
