Global Alert / Outlook

Thanks for your reply. I pretty much came to the same conclusion. I've
been going with #5 on your list.

In my poking about I did find one document from Microsoft that offers hope.
Q299391. I Haven't tried it yet.
What's needed is a way to tell Outlook what applications (Vantage) are
trusted.

I don't think there's much of a way around either having to
(1) Use a non-security patched version of outlook 2000
(2) Use another email program as your default mapi client
(3) Disable personal folders and configure trusts on exchange server
(4) Disable global alerts
(5) Tolerate Billy G's wonderful security fix.

Setting them to their lowest level still generates this problem.
Seems to only affect Outlook 2000 with SR1 and Outlook 2002.

Has anyone come up with a solution for Outlook generating the message:

"A program is trying to access e-mail address you have stored in Outlook.
Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and
you
should choose NO"

or

"A program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf. Do you
want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you
should
choose NO"

My users see the warning "if this is unexpected it could be a virus" They
see this several times a day but sometimes they can't help
themselves....they have to click no. Then the thing goes into the Alert
Error Log. And it warns everyone there are Alert Errors every time they
log
in. Never ending.

Anyway, is there a way to turn the message off in Outlook. The only thing
I
could find required giving up Personal Folders. I can't do that. I think
this only affects Outlook with the security patch and Outlook 2002 (XP)

There should be some way Vantage can be a trusted program.
