Global Alerts, Outlook 2000, Windows 2000

Did you happen to install SP2 for Office 2000?
I think that is part of the security that was built in it.

We have an annoying problem every time a global alert needs to be sent.
Outlook 2000 warns "an application is attempting to send an email" and do
you want to allow it to happen? The warning then requires the user to click
yes after about 10 seconds, and it sends the message.

Does anyone have any ideas to fix this issue?

David,

I would suggest checking your security settings on Outlook and moving it down (less strict) by one notch. Outlook is warning you that some program may be sending out a virus without your permission and wants to make sure you know about it.

This is something MS "fixed" in the security update for Outlook 2000. It is
also in outlook 2002 (XP). There isn't a setting you can change to get rid
of it. MS hot wired it so it can't be changed. I suspect you can
un-install Outlook 2000. Then re-install without the security update. Also
- if you want to do without personal folders (.pft) and you have Exchange,
you can use the Outlook Security Administrator to set security policies to
make this go away. But only if you won't be using personal folders.

If anyone knows of a better way...please let us know. This has been real
annoying. We use personal folders to reduce the load on our Exchange
server. No Joy.
