How to deal with the subcontract operation in Vantage 8.03

Not without creating a bigger problem than the one you already have. How are the jobs being created? Can you use MRP to create the suggested jobs, then you only need to firm/release? Are these 200 jobs a weekly quantity, or a daily? As far as scale goes I don’t think it’s outside the norm for many organizations to deal with hundreds of jobs. Do these jobs fall within your established procedures for handling the job process throughout your manufacturing processes? On the resource scheduling Board there is an operation batching process that you MIGHT be able to utilize. It’s very manual, and I never attempted to use it with subcontract ops so I can’t say if it will work (8 was a long time ago for me), also I recall the costing to be pretty shaky at that version with batching operations as well. If you can establish common ground on these you could utilize the tool sets such as UI customizations, BPM’s or even Service Connect to assist in the processes of shipping, receiving etc of these jobs.

The problem that we are struggling with is the number of jobs that we need to create for different parts. All these jobs have different part but all undergo the same operation.

Is there any possibility that we can make just one job for all these parts

Hi All;

We send out some fabricated parts for getting them metal coated currently we follow the below method

01. A part is created for the fabricated part and a revision for that is attached with the method of manufacturing

02. Then a job is created for that fabricated part

03. Material is issued to the job

04. PO is created for the subcontract operation

05. Sub contract shipment entry is done

06 After this we do Stage ship confirm entry

07. Material receipt transaction is passed

08. Quality Inspection transaction is done

09. Then Job receipt to Inventory

10. Finally the completion of the job

We send out around 200 items for the subcontract operation so it is difficult to manage the list of jobs that gets created. All these 200 items undergo the same sub contracting operation so please let me know if there could be a easy way for managing the things
