Ross, Thanks for the help. Amazing how my support dollars never seem to help but the Yahoo group always does.

I have one user that has created a part nightmare. She insists on using "Duplicate Part" (even though she has been told not to) and then doesn't go back and correct the supplier part number for the newly created part. This has resulted in numerous parts with incorrect supplier part numbers that have to be corrected. How can I block her from accessing this? Or, I wouldn't mind disabling this function all together. She is the only person that uses this. We are on 9.04.506A
One way is to do a pre-process BPM on Part.DuplicatePart. If you enter an
Exception error for the Action it will stop the method.

However, this way will still show it as an option on the Menu but when the
process is attempted it will error out and prevent the process.

This way you can also control it by user/group.

Have not looked at it but go into security maintenance/process security and you should find the process for part creation See if you can find an associated method that has to do with duplicate part creation and you should be able to secure who has access to that method

Go to System Management/Security and select Process Security.

Select the bo.Part object. Add a new Method and select DuplicatePart
method.

Select your users and/or groups.

I believe Security Managers have access to all processes.

I just played 20 questions with 3 different departments at Epicor and they
could not tell me if there is a BO that controls the "Duplicate" action on
the part maintenance screen. If you come up with an elegant way to disable
the action, I would be interested in your solution. This is a problem in
our engineering department as well.

Thanks Ross. I knew there had to be a simple way. I had looked at Process Security but couldn't find DuplicatePart. I didn't think about adding a new Method.
