Locking down the Parts Master

Dick,

That's exactly what I did before, only it was shut down because it also bars
the engineers from setting the lead times. However, I ran it through the
corporate treadmill and now everyone (purchasing) agrees that they can live
with one department only being able to set the lead time.

if you go to System Management/Security Maintenance/Menu
Security/Master File Maintenance/Part..
open up the '+' you will see additional security settings related to the
part master.
click on the "update purch info" and click the "disallow access" flag and
put the names of the
persons that you do not want to allow access to price list.

This will grey-out the price list button.

Could anyone tell me how to restrict access to the "Price List" button in
the Parts Master? I would like to enable my engineers to create parts,
without allowing them anywhere near the price list....

To make changes down the road easier, you would probably want to control the
access with a security group rather than using individual user names.
