Hi everyone, I am hoping you can share some tips on how do you handle Country of origin tracking in your companies. We know there is a setup in Part maintenance but we would like to have different countries of origin for the same part.
For example, for part ABC there are 10 on hand pz, 3 came from Mexico and 7 from India. We would like a way to track those.
We explored the possibility of a customization in PartLot attributes but we prefer not to enable Lot tracking for our plants.
What you are asking for is the benefit of serialized parts.
You can track the part to receipt and get the data from there. Looking at your question if you don’t want lot tracking, then serial tracking might not be an option as well.
The hard things is once you put all of the parts in a bin, how do you know which part came from which supplier? Then when parts are consumed again how it is tracked. That makes it really hard to manage out of system.
Of you can try and create a query based on fifo/lifo models. Then link back to receipt transactions for origination of parts. That would be an option.
