For those using external payroll software, are you using GL Import, DMT or another method to import the GL records to Epicor? We are researching potential external payroll companies and I want to make sure we don’t need to hand enter these records.
@rapat_mark When we were with ADP they provided an entry for us to paste insert. We are now with another provider and I have made a macro to generate the entry for paste insert.
We use the DMT tool with Ceridian. They structured it for us specifically because of the intercompany transactions and some oddities in our setup, but it works well. We’ve set up a Windows Scheduler PowerShell script to check for files every hour and import them.
Yes you can paste insert into a journal entry. Display the Journals Line in list mode - right-click copy to Excel. Then fill in new journals in Excel. I would fill-down what is there, then make changes as needed to account#s and amounts (debit/credit). Then copy just the new rows and Paste Insert into journal lines.
Yes - one file. Creates the Header, Detail, and codes for InterCompany all at once.
No - what I’m talking about does not require DMT. It’s simply modifying an existing journal entry with additional rows. I think this is easier than DMT.

@rapat_mark I concur with @randallweber on this being easier. I don’t think our GL entry people key any entry more than 4 lines. They paste in everything. If you are a more complex entity like where @MikeGross is then it is possible your needs would rise to the level of DMT.

@gpayne Can I ask what payroll you are using?
We are a pretty simple environment so pasting is probably the way to go. They are probably entering more manual lines than I am aware of and might help her improve her other entries as well.
@gpayne and @randallweber are correct - the Paste option in GL entry is super easy.
However, Every one of our entries is over 50 lines. The DMT makes this happen in seconds.

We’ll be using General Ledger Import on our 10.2.700 upgrade. Ceridian is providing a file in the required format for our GL.
