I had quoted about 50 MES license already, and im not too happy with the price tag attached to that. Our shop would like to do simple clocking in and out of jobs and some other things outside of Epicor. I was planning on using the Epicor EWA with MES license, but what other options are there? Is Epicor Warehouse strictly for inventory transactions?
I’ve been pushing for a reduced capability license for this. If you have any votes.
Reduced Capability License in Data Collection | Epicor Kinetic Ideas (aha.io)
How many workstations do you have?
Bezl.io - is a means to run using a different interface on any platform.
It does require a license to run, but it only uses the license for milliseconds.
It is worth checking out.
Option two may be a spreadsheet that is uploaded at the end of the day using DMT.
It may not fit your personal scenario, but we use iPads in our facility and leverage the Epicor Time app for the manufacturing team to enter time against jobs. However, that app works more like Time & Expense than MES. In our use case we perform labor against a number of “project” jobs, which Epicor in its infinite wisdom, prevents MES from applying time to. We previously used Bezl.io for time entry to get around that issue prior to getting the team iPads. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions on how we went about implementing and deploying the iPads.
Does it handle Shipping? I don’t see that listed on the website.
Replaced MES screens with a custom PHP solution linking to Epicor real time via REST APIs. Use web browser on Raspberry Pi with touch screen, barcode and RFID scanners to record Job Quantities along with Nonconformance and rework options.
In my experience the Bezl.io team is very responsive in creating modules that do not currently exist. If it doesn’t have a module today for shipping, which I think it does, you should be able to get them to develop what fits your needs.
Yes,
Bezl.io is able to create processes and you also are able to do your own customizations.
It’s an open platform where there is a site you can see where someone has built and shared their solution.
Nice thing about the Bezl.io - it doesn’t required the AMM module to do shipping on the tablet. MES does require AMM to receive and ship product.
I’ve been trying very hard for a couple of years now to use KMW for labor transactions, because it’s Android and very convenient, but IMO it’s not very well developed. There’s no way to see the work queue for a particular resource, or RG. Ideally I’d see a list of ops to work on, select, start, end. If you’re using paper travelers it’s ok. KMW seems to shine the most with inventory transactions, move requests.
