Is there a way to change UOM in Epicor 9?

It's built in to 702 and available upon request for 701 and I think 700 as well.

It does check to make sure there are no open transactions for the part in question before allowing the change to occur.

I realize the wrong UOMs can be inactivated, but that makes it messy because there are several of them. Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem? Our planned go live date is in two weeks.

The long way... that is also the correct way... is to delete that Part Number from any bill of materials, jobs, purchase orders etc... where it's called out. Then exit Epicor go back in and it will let you change the UOM. This assumes that there has not been any transactions against the part.

If there has been transactions against it... or you want to do it the quick way... you can write a BPM that will fix the data for you.

You can change the part uomclassid thru a sql query. We just when live in Oct. and this was something I did to fix our existing data. I think this is something most new implementations have issues with.

This thread is on this type of issue from a few weeks ago. there was a report of a fix from Epicor to change UOMClass, but I have not heard of it. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/vantage/message/117190

We have the same issues
If you change it with a query to the DB what tables do i have to update?
And is there any side effects to this?
And what if there is transactions against the part?

I don't believe historical transactions will have any basis on future ones with regards to quantities issued, received, or inventoried. If you change the UOM you will have to be sure to update your quantities on hand so they reconcile with your current unit of measure. Part.UOM I believe is the table.field, also if you have part specific UOM conversions you'll need to address those in the PartUOM table. But as always...buyer beware as YMMM...

I was told at Insights there is a way with 9.05.702.

From field help for Primary UOM on Part Screen:
Once a new part has been assigned a primary Inventory UOM code and is saved or used for any kind of transaction in the Epicor application, the Inventory UOM code can only be changed using the Part UOM Class Conversion Maintenance program.

But I can't find that program - I would call support and ask. If you find out, let us know.

If you run it, it appears to only change the part master if no
transaction have been enter, I tried it and it failed because a quote
detail record existed. The application help also states changes can only
be made if little or no transactions have been entered so it's just for
changing the default type from Dozen to Each with in a class code for
example if you just entered a part in error 5 minutes ago. This is not
some massive record conversion program.
