Is this a Browser Parity Issue?

Cloud-only users have no idea what’s a parity issue but would love to push issues up the backlog just the same.
Cloudies, post your favs. Smarties, let us know. Then we’ll report.

Can you reorder Grid View options in smart client?
Reorder Grid View Options

Is missing TransView a parity issue?

No. TransView isn’t even a thing in Classic.
It’s easy enough to add for basic apps too.

This is the same in Classic. You more-or-less have to create them in the order you want with slightly different steps between the two.
I wouldn’t call this a parity issue, but it sure would be useful to have a sequence field! Especially if there are lots of view options to recreate!

Not exactly accurate wording. Us “cloud” users have both. Maybe “Kinetic UI only” or I’m sure you can come up with something.

Also to everyone else, fair warning. Don’t turn this into a :dumpster_fire: . Keep it constructive or I’m gonna lock it. :locked:

As others have observed, this does not look like a parity issue since it was not possible in the smart client. That said, I do think it is a possible enhancement for Applation Studio that we could add in the future.
One note about “parity”… not everything is going to be exactly the same, but the ability to do the business functions should still be available. Fields should be visible and editable just as before, Right-click to get somewhere, etc.
An example of a good missing feature that someone pointed out just last week that IS a parity issue is that in the smart client version of AR Invoice Tracker, you had the ability to search for invoices by all the normal fields (customer, invoice, PO), but ALSO one extra search field was added sometime for the smart client to search by Packing Slip #. This was missed in our first pass of the search. The reason it wasn’t found is that it was a search outside of the norm, and probably rarely used. that said, we took the report, and we are going to fix it.

So quick to judge others, eh?.. Anyway here are a few issues:

PRB0289576 - Paste Update on Supplier Price List is missing after at least one part is assigned
PRB0277238 - Change Log, Date Stamped On, Sort Order does not consider the Year
PRB0250097 - Kinetic - Method Tracker does not allow to expand part description

I have lists of dozens of parity issues. I’m not going to repeat them all here because there is no point. I have reported them to support over and over and over again. Many of them are accepted by development with no target, or targeted to 2025.2 which leaves very little time to transition before the classic sunset. Others are shunted to the ideas site since there is no clear definition of what a partiy issue even is.

At its simplest, parity means, what I could do in classic, I can still do in Kinetic. But in reality there are a lot of things I could do EASILY with very few clicks in classic, that, while technically I can do them in Kinetic, they take a LOT longer and a LOT more clicks. Epicor doesn’t consider those parity issues but I do because they are major obstacles for my users trying to transition to the kinetic UI. Further evidence of this disconnect are the survey options published this week, where all sorts of non-parity items were lumped under parity concerns.

Thanks Hannah. I’m 0 for 2.

I knew I’d get called on this. Yes Kinetic-only. Hey I’m new here. I have no idea what smart client even means. /snark

Don’t stop posting. Ted Williams went 0 for 2 a lot and still is the best hitter in baseball - at least to us old people.

-Showing Recent Items Opened on menu lists.

-Selecting a Kinetic Row uses Yellow which is one of (3 colors Yellow, Red, Green) Classic uses Orange/Blue depending where your at. (Will theme’s fix this?)

-Development Time for a BAQ & Dashboard is longer in Kinetic than Classic. (Might be just me.)
Funny observation: I can develop a BAQ & Dashboard in classic and convert it to Kinetic faster than I can develop this from scratch in Kinetic. The conversion tool does a lot of Application Studio back end stuff that’s hard to do from scratch.

  • Lost control over tabbing order on screens. This hurts the power keyboard data entry uses.

  • Can’t export Personalization’s

I don’t want to sound like just a complainer, we should also start a list of things we like better or work better in kinetic. I love the fact that you can fire a dashboard then go to something else while it loads, classic would lock you up.

Also purging Kinetic personalizations isn’t like Classic where you can pick specific personalizations to delete. Last I tried it purged all but I haven’t looked in 2025.1

Things I love:

Can run the entire app in the browser which means I don’t need to deal with user installation issues, updates, being on the vpn, and so on and so forth.

Grid filters. LOVE LOVE LOVE grid filters. It reduces a lot of clicks and makes it so quick, easy, and intuitive to find the record I need vs. using the classic binoculars. Love them.

Landing pages. Out of the box these are not implemented in a perfect way BUT I love the fact that they are there and are pretty easy to customize to show the relevant records. For example, sales orders on credit holds, arrived receipts, etc. Just so fantastic for data visbility.

Kinetic BAQ designer. LOVE reference queries. LOVE being able to run an individual subquery. Love type-to-find on the field lists.

Application studio. Well this one is love hate. But once the bugs get worked out I love how easy it is to spin up my own applications (no tying up a UD entry screen if I don’t want to). Its a very powerful tool with massive (as yet unrealized) potential.

Activity Tabs: LOVE not having to go to the tracker (when I am in entry) to see the various transactional data associated with the entity I am looking at.

Explorer Cards: LOVE the visualization of the process flow

Activity Tracking: LOVE being able to see who is using which menu items, which bpms are getting triggered, how long things are taking to execute, etc. This is a great step in the direction of true observability and looking forward to future evolution.

:100: agree with all of these!

Explorer Cards are awesome. I love the concept. Still has some performance issues, for example in order entry if you have a lot of releases and shipments. But the visualization to interpret the data is wonderful.

REPORT THIS!

In my notes for resolution when we get to it: How can MES work with barcode scanner without auto-tab + tab order?

Tabs go left to right & top to bottom of columns in Kinetic. So the only thing we can do is order the fields in the needed tab order… :man_shrugging:

@timshuwy has already said they can’t change the tab order IIRC so we may be stuck.
