Job Tracker costs vs Inv-WIP report

Material as well as Labor are being backflushed.

Very rarely do I adjust any cost after a shipment has been made, and
usually it is not more than $200.

Our procedure is to create the labor transactions, then only complete
and backflush a job. We close the job AFTER I have made any necessary
adjustments.

So to throw a monkey wrench into this, I did compare costs to my MFG-CUS
transactions. And those numbers are very different as well.

To sum up, I have 3 sets of numbers, my MFG-CUS transactions, my job
tracker costs, and my INV-WIP numbers. And all three are different to
one another.

I would say it depends....what you want to compare is the
value of the MFG-CUS transaction to the actual Job Cost or INV-WIP
report.

If these costs vary, I would suspect that costed transactions are
occurring
on the job AFTER it has been shipped.

I don't think this is all of the answer you need, since there has to be
another factor in there for the back flush element. Is it just material
that is back flushed or labor as well?

Wanted your opinion on this and why you think this way or not:

If you were an average cost shop, which do you believe, the costs of
your job or the INV-WIP report? We ship everything off of jobs.

We also, backflush everything, but if I look at the Jobs costs (in job
tracker) vs the INV-WIP report, my numbers are so different that I do
not know what to believe anymore.

If I am backflushing, then the only account that should have any
discrepancies should be my material accounts. But my Labor and Burden
accounts are different as well, which is why I am questioning this.

I need someone to kick me in the head...gently please!
