Jobs / Wip Reconcilliation

[system]

Inventory doesnt go neg typically. 

We have simple BOM's.  1 operation where material is backflushed. 

each shift reports production real time(1 carton filled 1 carton reported), we confirm qty for each shift is correct and do a Receipt to inventory.  Qty received is the combined amount of 3 shifts. 

We pull from stock to another job to complete a finished good.  

We also transfer from A location to B location. 

there's a number of transactions before next day shift reporting. 

But the variance on cost seems to drastic. 

 

I see the adj-cost in Part Transaction history Tracker. 

I can't attach that page here to give you a clearer picture.

Umh – When you say cost adjustments to the job is the MFG-VAR transaction?

 

When is the material being backflushed?  First operation?  Last?

 

When is the receipt being done?

 

Do you allow your inventory to go negative?

I understand Average cost fluctuates, just not sure what causes it to fluctuate so drastically as stated below.  Same amount of material issued. 

I understand it has to do with timing and any transactions between each days reporting, but .06 difference is to much.  Creates cost adjustments in the job.  Which may be part of the suspense amount. 

As much as i've learned i know nothing  ((sigh))

We are not auto-receiving. We do Job receipt to inventory at the end of the day.

It should be… are you auto receiving to inventory as well? That may cause a timing issue.

We're backflushing material. I thought that meant material was issued as soon as production is reported.

We usually get variances when there is a timing problem.

Hi all,
Question regarding jobs again......
We create jobs manuf to stock. When we're done with the run, I check the estimated material usage compared to actual usage. It's off by $10.00 (maybe)allowing for scrap. Yet when i run the Wip Reconcilliation for the job, $150.00 hit the suspense account.
I can't figure where the 150.00 is coming from.
Could it be the difference if i change the qty prod to match the qty received ?
I've been struggling with this for a few weeks now.

Question regarding jobs again......

We create jobs manuf to stock.  When we're done with the run, I check the estimated material usage compared to actual usage.  It's off by $10.00 (maybe)allowing for scrap.  Yet when i run the Wip Reconcilliation for the job, $150.00 hit the suspense account. 

I can't figure where the 150.00 is coming from. 

Could it be the difference if i change the qty prod to match the qty received ? 

I've been struggling with this for a few weeks now.

Question regarding jobs again......
We create jobs manuf to stock. When we're done with the run, I check the estimated material usage compared to actual usage. It's off by $10.00 (maybe)allowing for scrap. Yet when i run the Wip Reconcilliation for the job, $150.00 hit the suspense account.
I can't figure where the 150.00 is coming from.
Could it be the difference if i change the qty prod to match the qty received ?
I've been struggling with this for a few weeks now.

Hi all,
Question regarding jobs again......
We create jobs manuf to stock. When we're done with the run, I check the estimated material usage compared to actual usage. It's off by $10.00 (maybe)allowing for scrap. Yet when i run the Wip Reconcilliation for the job, $150.00 hit the suspense account.
I can't figure where the 150.00 is coming from.
Could it be the difference if i change the qty prod to match the qty received ?
I've been struggling with this for a few weeks now.

We are not auto-receiving.  We do Job receipt to inventory at the end of the day.

It should be… are you auto receiving to inventory as well? That may cause a timing issue.

I understand Average cost fluctuates, just not sure what causes it to fluctuate so drastically as stated below.  Same amount of material issued. 

I understand it has to do with timing and any transactions between each days reporting, but .06 difference is to much.  Creates cost adjustments in the job.  Which may be part of the suspense amount. 

As much as i've learned i know nothing  ((sigh))

We are not auto-receiving. We do Job receipt to inventory at the end of the day.

Hi all,
Question regarding jobs again......
We create jobs manuf to stock. When we're done with the run, I check the estimated material usage compared to actual usage. It's off by $10.00 (maybe)allowing for scrap. Yet when i run the Wip Reconcilliation for the job, $150.00 hit the suspense account.
I can't figure where the 150.00 is coming from.
Could it be the difference if i change the qty prod to match the qty received ?
I've been struggling with this for a few weeks now.

Umh – When you say cost adjustments to the job is the MFG-VAR transaction?

 

When is the material being backflushed? First operation? Last?

 

When is the receipt being done?

 

Do you allow your inventory to go negative?

I understand Average cost fluctuates, just not sure what causes it to fluctuate so drastically as stated below.  Same amount of material issued. 

I understand it has to do with timing and any transactions between each days reporting, but .06 difference is to much.  Creates cost adjustments in the job.  Which may be part of the suspense amount. 

As much as i've learned i know nothing  ((sigh))
