Keep in mind that it is easy to over look an item marked Non-Stock. We make
a lot of special components in addition to our standard product line. Once
you link a job to the sales order the system won't remind you that you
already have inventory. We found it very easy to make a special component
with out realizing we had an extra one from the last order in stock.

The finished product will go to the sale order unless you have an
additional demand link going to your warehouse for stock. Also when
completing your final operation on the job the S/O qty's will be
fulfilled first.
So far as I've seen the only downside to the auto receive function is
that it will put the finished good into whatever bin location currently
has a stock on hand. So if you are using bin locations for your
finished goods you may need to do a inventory transfer.

One more question,
If the job is linked to a sales order, will the finished product go into
inventory if we have the final operation checked as auto received?
Or, do we just ship from the sales order?
Thanks,
Jasper

MRP will create an unfirm job suggestion. You will have to firm,
engineer and release the job after that.

Jasper,
On the sales order release the "Make Direct" check box needs to be
checked then you can link directly to a job.
