We currently register machines as an employee, so when am employee is working on a machine the hours are entered twice. Once for the employee and once for the machine.
There is obviously a better method and I wonder how this is setup.
Why are you capturing the machine hours as another person? We don’t capture machine hours at all, they are implied by the time captured by the operator.
When we started that was the simplest solution since all hours are manhours and no machine hours at all (all are handtools). Now there is a large machine being used by an operator so the initial quick setup was to simply set it up as an employee, but that is of course not the way to go.
We wonder how to setup how you did…
I didn’t say that clearly. Let me start over. Don’t set up the machine as an employee. The employee should be linked to the resource group or resource in the production info and/or when they are actually entering their time on the operation. The time shouldn’t entered twice, the time just gets entered once.
The simplest way was at the time to create a resource and book hours that only contain a burden rate.
That did the trick, but we want to do it the right way. Question is how…
