Menu search no longer working

Came in this morning to several tickets regarding some users being unable to search for any menus in Epicor and all of the starred favorites being missing along with the MES screens timing out. As far as I can tell we haven’t changed anything and have an uptime of about 15 days so I’m a bit lost on what could’ve gone wrong.

We noticed the Epicor Search indexer service had stopped and thought we had found a KB article that would resolve the issue but even after getting the search indexer service started back up the issues are unresolved for our users

Something still lagging with the app pools? perhaps you fixed the issue but the epicor app servers are still hung up from it

Would you please let us know what you did to resolve it when you find out?

I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, have you already tried stopping and starting the app pool or shutting off the VMs in the proper order for a hard restart?

We’ve done a hard restart twice without any luck. strangely enough its effecting most users but not all of them. Put in a ticket with Epicor this morning, still waiting on a response but I’ll update when we figure out what the issue is.

Have you tried clearing their cache on the client machine already?

How about just re-installing the client on their machine.

We did try clearing the cache, but haven’t tried reinstalling the client for anyone yet, I’ll have to give that a shot.

Make sure you delete all the relevant folders, including the program data for Epicor.

Figured it out, turns out the search indexer process was a complete red herring.
On Friday we’d mistakenly changed SEC000 to no longer be available to everyone causing everything in the main menu and everything inside to only be visible to a handful of people and security managers when everyone came in on Monday.
