So, we are closer to going live and I was tasked with getting some MES
Stations..

1st, the Symbol/Motorola Micro Kiosks. They have a barcode scanner and a
card swipe built in on some models and are pretty rugged for use on a
manufacturing floor. I bought a used one on ebay. Turns out the touch screen
sucked and the screen was a lil small. So...NEXT!!! Price new was about
$1800.

2nd, HP Thin Clients. We looked at the HP Thin Client t5325. This was a
reccomendation by another Epicor user on here. These work good and have an
excellent price point. $200 for the unit. If you add a cheap LCD for $150,
you will have a full setup for $350. Cons were the added cost of a terminal
server, and the TS Client license. Bumps the price to $425 plus a server if
you dont have one. Also, if you want a touch screen and a barcode scanner,
that will be extra as well.

3rd, Full computers. We looked at buying a bunch of cheap Dell computers and
loading Epicor onto them and running things that way. This was a good idea
but lost due to the cost.

4th, this was our winner. The Asus ET1611PUT-B001E All in One PC. This is a
cheap computer with a good touch screen. We were able to use the Windows
Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to pro and I have started rolling them out. We
tested by getting an open box one from Newegg and everyone loved them. They
are a lil slow compared to a full fledged computer, but are fast enough to
run MES just fine. We also want tha ability to run Adobe Acrobat to bring up
drawings so they are also fast enough to handle that. Got a good deal on
them from Susie Ratko from Zones.com also. We will probably be buying screen
protectors though. Other than that, these lil guys rock.

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for a GOOD MES station solution.
