Newbie question on vantage server configuration to have a best r

The usual suspects are the following:
Â
You have not shut down unnecessary databases such as Test, Pilot, and Train on your server (go to Progress Explorer and right click on database and click on stop)
You have not stopped the unnecessary APP servers for Test, Pilot, and Train (you only need these running if you are doing some testing in another database)
If you are SQL you should put your progress database into read only mode. You are not doing any database writes so these databases do not need to be active
Â
Look at your server monitor through windows security/task manager and look at the PIDs which are running. If all these other servers are active you are taking up valuable memory on the server. Look for any other unnecessary processes which may also be running
Â
I can send you the tuning guide if that would help as well

Hi,
I have a basic question on vantage settings configuration.
The Vantage execution is very slow in almost all our menus.
we have the vantage 8.03.407 version.
What can we verify in the vantage configuration
what can we verify in our SQL server configuration
what can we do, could you list all
the points that we have to check to have the best performance (best response time)?

thank you very much.

It's not always just a configuration issue.

How many users?
Server Processor(s)?
Server RAM?
Server Hard Drive configuration?
Network hardware?
Client Processor? RAM?

Depending on those you can then go into actual configuration, since
configuration is dependant on that information.

That's where you would go and examine the number of appservers you have, the
memory buffers, lockwaits, and other aspects. There are some general rules,
but for the most part every installation is a little bit different and its
needs are unique to itself.
